The intention was to create something deeply personal — a feature that felt curated, lived in, and central to the atmosphere of the lounge. To frame the artwork, the entire wall was surrounded with traditional bespoke cabinetry and bookcases, creating the feeling of a classic library-style interior. The handmade cabinetry at the base was constructed using a combination of tulipwood and Medite, finished with European oak tops in a natural oiled finish to bring warmth and texture to the space. Above this, traditional bookcases sat proudly on the cabinetry, running around and enclosing the mood wall to give the pictures a sense of importance and permanence within the room.
The surrounding joinery was spray-finished using Mylands, Beata White, providing a soft and timeless backdrop, while the mood wall itself was hand painted using Little Greene, Goblin green tone to enhance the artwork and create contrast within the cabinetry. This subtle use of colour gave the display a more intimate and personal feel, helping the pictures become the true focal point of the room.
Below the mood wall, a seating area completed the design, tying the cabinetry, artwork, and lounge space together into a comfortable and inviting feature within the home.
